So Much Depends on Covid-19

Barbara Edler

So Much Depends on Covid-19
My son called today, so
Sad that his honeymoon was cancelled, much
Suffering lately; lives lost, special plans aborted, depends
On one’s ability to love from a distance, upon
Lysol, gloves, protecting ourselves, each other, a
Cacophony of grief reverberates, red
As this ruined wheelbarrow

Note from Barbara about the poem: Inspired by William Carlos Williams “The Red Wheelbarrow”
