Infection

Monica Schwafaty

Stay inside for my own protection
Stay safe in self-isolation
It’s only been a month
No one talks about it
Because it isn’t easy to admit
It’s only been a month
Quarantine is a prison
It’s a slow demolition
It’s only been a month
It is happening everywhere
Does anyone care?
It’s only been a month
There is no escape
How much more can I tolerate?
It’s only been a month
Quarantine is meant to stop the spread
But it fills me with dread
It’s only been a month
The abuse is an infection
flourishing in this condition
It’s only been a month
How much longer can I endure?
For I see no cure
And it’s only been a month!
