Crier

Stefani Boutelier

I was never a crier
But my heart keeps breaking
Quarantined from truth
The marginalized
The oppressed
Opportunity spectrum
The gap is widening

I will not cry

Kids whose safety was in the four walls
Of our classrooms
Food
Insecurities
Health
Instabilities

Don’t cry

Trolls
Hatred
Bipartisanism
Petty
Disbelief

I cannot believe it

Unemployment
Stimulus
Terminally ill
Last goodbyes
Via facetime

Hold it in

Try not to take it personal
The constant hate
Disregard for humanity
Dis-empathy
Distant from reality

I cry
