70 Muhlenberg College’s Value-Driven Approach to Edtech
Speakers
Lora Taub and Timothy Clarke
Abstract
Mark Leiberman from Inside Higher Ed noted that Muhlenberg College is “a liberal arts college in Pennsylvania [that] has found a niche in the online space without sacrificing traditional values.”
This session explores how Muhlenberg College has found a way to bring the values that guide the institution’s broader mission to the web, in all its messy complexity. Among other tools, they are using Domain of One’s Own across campus to instantiate some of the values at the heart of open education: learning, sharing, and challenging some of the broader assumptions about technology in academic. As Lora Taub and Tim Clarke demonstrate so eloquently, a value-drive approach starts and ends with a conversation at the level of the campus community.
