Abstract
Open for Whom? : Revisiting the Global Commitments of Open Education
The COVID-19 pandemic has undoubtedly changed education systems across the world in fundamental ways. How does a socially-just open education address the current climate? What are commitments open education advocates and practitioners need to revisit? How does this differ depending on context? Is ‘open’ a culturally and socially appropriate way to respond to this crisis? This talk seeks to address the urgency and the opportunity to re-center and progress the promises of open education, while consider the global challenges that make this process complicated.
