Introduction

In the current digital world, there is an increasing need for the application and deployment of emerging and Information Communication Technology tools in every area of human endeavour, especially in teaching and learning. There is no gainsaying the fact that research is the springboard of all knowledge and educational leaps. However, it is also evident that research from certain parts of the world does not always get the necessary attention, leading to voices missing from important conversations. It is on this note that we present the maiden edition of the Association for Digital Education and Communications Technology (ADECT) Conference proceeding.

This open-access proceeding made possible by the support of the Oklahoma State University Library contains papers presented at the ADECT conference held in collaboration with the Association for Educational Communication Technology. The conference took place in Abuja Nigeria from Wednesday 22 – Friday 24 May 2019 under the conference theme “The Future of Teaching, Learning and Educational Communications Technology in the 21st Century: Issues, Challenges and Prospects”.

We hope that this publication will not only serve as a way to disseminate the work of presenters at this conference but should also enhance knowledge and encourage conversations on technologies used in education. Such a conversation should also stimulate growth in the educational sector that is to the benefit of society at large.
