by Amber Goodfellow
Amber Goodfellow emerges as a determined first-generation college student, charting her course toward a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art at Oklahoma State University. Her academic journey began with an associate’s degree in Behavioral Science at NOC, where she thrived before transitioning to OSU in Fall 2021. Bound for graduation in May 2025, Amber’s dedication to her budding art practice and academic excellence has earned her multiple scholarships and leadership recognitions.
Amber’s artwork delves into the realms of psychology, symbolism, popular culture and the transcendental. Focused primarily on sculpture and drawing, she explores the performance and theatricality of the world stage, delving into the structure of self and her own transcendental practices. In sculpture her visual aesthetics veer into the grotesque, the macabre, and the obscene, contrasting her 2D work often featuring heavy ink layers, deep
charcoal shadows and ultraviolet pigments, creating a captivating and immersive experience for viewers. In addition to her studies, Amber works as a studio monitor for 3D Design and Sculpture within the art department, overseeing students in wood and metal shops. Her role not only demonstrates her commitment to her craft but also her leadership within her artistic community.
Beyond academia, Amber plays a vital role in her University community as a transfer student ambassador and mentor, easing the transition for new students. Her artwork has been showcased in various campus exhibitions and installations, sparking dialogue and reflection. Furthermore, Amber is deeply involved in student clubs, notably as the current President of her school’s chapter of the National Society of Leadership and Success. She also participates actively in OSU’s Artist Society and Tau Sigma Honor Society, championing artistic expression and academic achievement within the student body. Amber also completed the Hargis Institute’s Lead4Success program, as well as the Leadership Development Series for which she was recently celebrated with other phenomenal leaders from campus at the President’s Celebration of Leadership with President Shrum.
Notably, Amber balances her academic pursuits with the responsibilities of being a single mother to two
remarkable children. Her unconventional journey into the world of studio art, without formal training until her 30s, speaks to her resilience, determination, and unwavering commitment to her craft.
