Trash Ballerina

by Roya Revels

Roya Revels is an artist from Edmond, Oklahoma who specializes in acrylic painting and various drawing mediums. Her art style is influenced by the surrealism movement and baroque period style, though Roya finds inspiration in all styles of art. The emotional power of art is important to her because she believes art can connect people from all walks of life.

Roya Revels describes this piece as composed of different trash items put together, including a yarn label, soda tops, receipts, buttons, and plastic. The trash ballerina shows the beauty of construction and the endless possibilities to make trash art. Though not the most dynamic, the ballerina is quite the poser. Differentiation between the figure and background is clear, and tint and shade are used through charcoal to create dimension.
