The purpose of this unit is to help students practice and develop writing strategies that include vivid description, a well-told story, and which lend a sense of significance and meaning to the story. Throughout the unit students will be drafting, revising, and finalizing a personal narrative. Students will create a narrative essay about an important moment in their lives, conveying a sense of significance in which they describe settings and incorporate descriptive and sensory details which work together to evoke reader understanding of the author’s main point.
